As we approach the New Year, it’s time to start thinking about resolutions.

At Quality Trust, we resolve to continue our advocacy to ensure that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) have their rights protected and have access to the services and supports they need to live the life they want in the community.

We resolve to monitor what’s happening at the local and national level that could change the amount and kinds of services available to people with IDD. That includes not only policy changes or budget challenges in DC but also challenges to Medicaid or other federal systems of support for people with IDD.

We also resolve to continue making ourselves available to the residents of DC who have IDD when they need support making their voice heard. Our Monitoring Team will advocate for people who are not getting their needs met by their providers or the DC Department on Disability Services. Our Legal Team will help people maintain the right to make their own decisions, represent people with IDD who have faced discrimination because of their disability, and advocate for students to get the transition services they need to prepare for life after high school. Our Outreach Team will educate people and their families about their rights and advocating for themselves and continue to support Project ACTION! to raise concerns that are important to them.

Finally, Quality Trust resolves to support its staff so that they can continue doing the critical advocacy work they do with and on behalf of people with IDD and their families. We thank our staff for their decades of hard work building the culture of person-centered advocacy that we are so proud to offer!

What do you resolve to do better in 2025? Let us know if we can help!

Happy New Year!
